Pretty In Pink Original Mixed Media Painting by Ali Leja Art New Hand-clean onlyThese highly textured canvas pieces began as my palette paper the surface where excess paint, color mixing, and creative experiments lived while I worked on original paintings. Instead of discarding them, I let the layers dry and then returned to them with fresh eyes. Using acrylic paint, charcoal, and ink, I carved women out of the surfaces allowing each figure to emerge from the chaos of color and texture already there. Each piece is a
